Workshop #10 ~ Databending, 10th October 2016

During this session we looked at Rosa Menkman’s Vernacular of File Formats, part glitch manifesto, part instructions into hacking header files to produce data-bent results. You can get some great results by saving images in the RAW file format, and then tricking GIMP or Photoshop into thinking there are more pixels, or channels or whatever than there really are. We also used this fantastic resource: http://www.glitchet.com/pixelsorter. You can find pixel sorting  algorithms in most programming languages – check out Kim Asendorfs work… and you can also find a version in processing I believe.
